This year has seen quite a few changes in this department already (thank you, <a href=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/nat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NAT HLA!<\/a>), but here is a list of some other regulatory deadlines on the horizon&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Dec 31, 2019 &#8211; <\/em><strong>Operations in North Atlantic<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>U.S. operators must have the revised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/documentLibrary\/media\/Notice\/N_8900.518.pdf\">LOA BO39:<\/a> \u201cOperations in North Atlantic High Level Airspace (NAT HLA)&#8221;. Operators holding the old MNPS LOA BO39 will not be permitted to fly in the NAT HLA beyond this date. Requirements include: RNP10, crew training and new contingency procedures incorporated in company operating handbooks. Read our article <a href=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/old-mnps-approvals-set-to-expire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/documentLibrary\/media\/Notice\/N_8900.518.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8446\" src=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/B039-1024x630.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"501\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/B039-1024x630.png 1024w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/B039-300x185.png 300w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/B039-768x472.png 768w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/B039.png 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Jan 1, 2020 &#8211; <\/em><strong>US ADS-B Out Mandate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/nextgen\/equipadsb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ADS-B\u00a0Out<\/a> will be required where Mode C is required AND:<\/li>\n<li>Class A, B and C airspace, Class E at or above 10,000\u2019 MSL (but not below 2,500\u2019 AGL).<\/li>\n<li>Within 30nm of Class B (Mode C veil).<\/li>\n<li>Above the ceiling and within lateral boundaries of Class B and C up to 10,000\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Class E over Gulf of Mexico, at and above 3000\u2019 MSL within 12 nm of US coast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.faa.gov\/nextgen\/equipadsb\/research\/airspace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8442\" src=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ads-b-image-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ads-b-image-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ads-b-image-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ads-b-image-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ads-b-image.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Jan 30, 2020 &#8211; <\/em><strong>Expansion of Datalink Mandate in the North Atlantic<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icao.int\/EURNAT\/EUR%20and%20NAT%20Documents\/NAT%20Documents\/NAT%20OPS%20Bulletins\/NAT%20OPS%20Bulletin%202017_001_Rev04.pdf\">Phase 2C<\/a> of North Atlantic Datalink Mandate. FANS 1\/A CPDLC and ADS-C will be required between FL290-FL410 throughout the entire NAT region (previously FL350-390). Read our article <a href=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/data-link-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Feb 5, 2020 &#8211; <\/em><strong>European Datalink Mandate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initially legacy aircraft flying above FL290 in European airspace were to be <a href=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/dashboard\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/ATN-B1-Requirement-2015-update.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">equipped with CPDLC<\/a> capability by Feb 2015. But due to equipage requirements and technical issues the mandate was delayed to Feb 2020, <strong>AND<\/strong>, even better, <strong>most GA\/BA aircraft will be exempt from this<\/strong>. Read our article <a href=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/your-aircraft-may-now-be-exempt-from-europes-2020-datalink-mandate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>June 7, 2020 &#8211;\u00a0<\/em><strong>European ADS-B\u00a0Out Mandate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aircraft flying IFR in Europe with max certified takeoff weight of more than 5700kg (12,566lbs) OR max cruising TAS of more than 250kts <a href=\"https:\/\/ads-b-europe.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">must be equipped with ADS-B<\/a>. GPS sensor with at least WAAS accuracy coupled to a 1090 Extended Squitter transponder required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/sites\/default\/files\/dfu\/EASA_STC_NEWS_JUNE_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8444\" src=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Screen-Shot-2019-11-19-at-14.07.27-1024x474.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Screen-Shot-2019-11-19-at-14.07.27-1024x474.png 1024w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Screen-Shot-2019-11-19-at-14.07.27-300x139.png 300w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Screen-Shot-2019-11-19-at-14.07.27-768x355.png 768w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Screen-Shot-2019-11-19-at-14.07.27.png 1370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 499px) 100vw, 499px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>DELAYED:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Canada: ADS-B Out Mandate <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This was planned to be implemented in Class A airspace from Feb 2021, and Class B airspace from Jan 2022. But Nav Canada has now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navcanada.ca\/EN\/products-and-services\/Service%20Project%20Announcements\/Notice%20of%20Change-ADS-B%20Mandate-EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">postponed<\/a> this mandate. They still plan on using ADS-B for surveillance, and this will be used on a priority basis for suitably equipped aircraft starting in 2021, but they say &#8211; \u201cnon ADS-B Out equipped aircraft will be accommodated within the airspace until a performance requirements mandate can be implemented.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>ALSO ON THE HORIZON:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>August 14, 2020 &#8211; <\/em><strong>EU: SAFA Ramp Checks &amp; Pilot Mental Health<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EASA regulations requiring <strong>alcohol testing during ramp checks<\/strong> will take effect across all SAFA participating countries (although some countries have already started doing this: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, UK, and Singapore).
