Oops, Freudian slip<\/strong>: What we meant was, Australia confirms TSP is required<\/em><\/strong>. But trust us, it’s a nightmare. \u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A TSP is a Transport Security Program, and if you don\u2019t know what that is yet, prepare for some painful bureaucracy.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Over the last few years, they exempted lots of corporate and private ops. Now they say they\u2019ve changed their mind. Everybody operating a jet needs one<\/strong> – Private, Charter, Commercial, Air Force One – whoever. You have got to do one, no exceptions.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The official line is that it takes two months<\/strong> to get one. The best we\u2019ve heard from OPSGROUP members is 40 days.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If you\u2019ve got a trip planned and need TSP approval quicker than that, you can always check with\u00a0guidancecentre@homeaffairs.gov.au<\/a>\u00a0to be sure – they might be able to help you with a shorter timeframe, but there are no guarantees.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The official guidance on how to apply<\/strong> can be found here<\/a>, and they have at least been good enough to provide a template<\/strong> application form<\/strong> (all 66 pages of it – ouch!!) which can be found here<\/a>. If at all possible, save yourself some misery and get someone else to apply on your behalf!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
