This Bulletin has been updated as of 22nd Jan 2024. <strong>There are now different dates when Oceanic Clearances will cease to be issued in the following FIRs:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Shanwick<\/strong>:\u00a0<s>April 9<\/s>\u00a0\u00a0<s>May<\/s>\u00a0\u00a0<s>Q4 2024<\/s>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>December 4<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Gander<\/strong>:\u00a0<s>March<\/s>\u00a0\u00a0<s>May 3<\/s>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>December 4<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bod\u00f8<\/strong>:\u00a0<s>March<\/s>\u00a0\u00a0<s>May 6<\/s>\u00a0<s><s>June 17\u00a0<\/s><\/s>\u00a0<strong>December 4<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Santa Maria<\/strong>: completed March 21<\/li>\n<li><strong>Iceland<\/strong>:\u00a0 completed March 21<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NATS (who manage Shanwick airspace) have published a video about this change, which shows exactly how it will work and what you will need to do.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"RIP Oceanic Clearances on the NAT\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HrDM2FnjQLI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4>Big Change #2: Simplified Comms Failure Procedures<\/h4>\n<p>As per Chapter 5 of the 007 Doc, from March 2024 here&#8217;s what you do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Comms failure <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">before<\/span> entering the NAT:<\/strong> assuming you don&#8217;t divert, you enter the NAT via the Oceanic Entry Point at the level and speed resulting from whatever radio comms failure (RCF) procedures you just had to do in adjacent airspace.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Comms failure <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">after<\/span> entering the NAT: <\/strong>maintain the cleared route\/level\/speed until reaching the Oceanic Exit Point (ideally don&#8217;t change route\/level\/speed unless you have to), then get back to your flight planned route &#8220;in the most direct manner possible&#8221; no later than the next significant point.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Comms failure if <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">operating to an airport in the NAT:<\/span> <\/strong>follow the standard PANS-ATM procedures. <em>What are these?<\/em> &#8211; head to an airport aid\/fix, hold until the ETA as per the flight plan, do a normal instrument approach, land!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23725\" src=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/procedures-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/procedures-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/procedures-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/procedures-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/procedures.jpg 1448w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Big Change #3: &#8220;Last Assigned Code&#8221; Procedures Standardized<\/h4>\n<p>A bonus one we spotted!
