It’s been quiet for a while on the North Atlantic, but that’s set to change soon, with the release of a new version of the NAT Doc 007.<\/p>\n

Wait, what new version of the NAT Doc 007??<\/h4>\n

It’s just a draft<\/strong> for now, due for release in March 2024.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was published following the meeting of the North Atlantic Systems Planning Group (NAT SPG) back in June – the folks who meet each year to work out what needs changing in this document, amongst other things. So this draft contains the changes they discussed at that meeting.<\/p>\n

What is changing?<\/h4>\n

Right, the important bit!<\/p>\n

First up, there will be\u00a0no more Oceanic Clearances\u00a0<\/b>– a big change to anyone used to saying “Cleared to Kennedy via Track Alpha, FL360, Mach 0.80<\/i>“. The new NAT Doc 007 will also have a new Comms Failure<\/b> procedure… completely rewritten.<\/p>\n

These are the biggest changes to NAT procedures in years, and we’re looking for some volunteers<\/strong> to help go through the new NAT Doc – for this, and more, join the new #atlantic<\/a> channel on Slack<\/strong> – open to all members.<\/p>\n

This is one of a bunch of new channels<\/strong> we’re working on at the moment, so keep an eye out for more “LOCAL<\/b>” channels coming … we already have\u00a0#newzealand<\/a>,\u00a0#singapore<\/a>,\u00a0#italy<\/a>. These local channels are a new idea – somewhere for people based there to connect, and to help\/welcome visiting crews.\u00a0Opsgroup members can get involved here!<\/a><\/p>\n
