{"id":10182,"date":"2020-07-28T00:01:32","date_gmt":"2020-07-28T04:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/?p=10182"},"modified":"2020-08-09T16:35:09","modified_gmt":"2020-08-09T20:35:09","slug":"covid-restrictions-by-us-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ops.group\/blog\/covid-restrictions-by-us-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid restrictions by US state"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the United States seeing new<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2020\/03\/16\/816707182\/map-tracking-the-spread-of-the-coronavirus-in-the-u-s?t=1595932635942\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hotspots for Covid-19<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cropping up, varying forms of restrictions have been implemented by the individual states. <strong>Restrictions imposed at the state level are below, and also include links that may be helpful.<\/strong> States in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">red text<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have stronger regulations than the standard \u2018mask and social distancing\u2019 and are worth a closer look. <em>All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of 28 July 2020.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, here are a few things to keep in mind regardless of where you plan to fly:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Always check all NOTAMs and relevant publications before flying<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consider fuel levels and alternates in light of unexpected ATC closures\/restrictions<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow CDC and state\/local government guidance &#8211; this may include <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2020\/06\/19\/us\/states-face-mask-coronavirus-trnd\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">masks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, gloves, Covid-19 testing, and cleaning\/disinfection regimes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check with your handler or airport representative to verify that city or county government regulations do not differ from the state regulations, and to confirm availability of services at the airport<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/transportation-systems-sector\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aviation is considered an essential business<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the U.S. Federal Government, but some states may not have explicitly named it as such in their regulations.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, keep in mind that U.S. federal regulations still restricts international travel into the U.S. for those who are not citizens or permanent residents. <strong>There\u2019s a long list of countries where passengers are\u00a0not allowed to have travelled to within the past 14 days if they want to enter the US.<\/strong> This includes the European Schengen area, the UK and Ireland, mainland China, Iran, and Brazil. Passengers who have been in one of these countries in the past 14 days but who are exempt from the restriction to enter the US (i.e. they are US residents or family members), are only able to land at one of 15 airports: ATL, BOS, ORD, DFW, DTW, HNL, LAX, MIA, JFK, EWR, SFO, SEA, IAD, FLL and IAH. More information can be found on the Centres for Disease Control <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/travelers\/from-other-countries.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Alabama:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All individuals are required to wear a mask when within six feet of a person from another household.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social distancing of six feet is also required between members of different households.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.alabama.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/covid19.alabama.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Alaska:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All travellers from outside Alaska must fill out a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.alaska.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/06112020-Mandate-10-Travel-declaration-form-Ver-2.0-6-10-f.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">declaration form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and present results of a negative Covid-19 PCR test from within the last 72 hours. If your test results are from the previous five days, you must be tested again on arrival.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In either case, those remaining in Alaska must also take another PCR test 7-14 days after arrival.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no mandate to wear a mask or social distance, but it is strongly encouraged.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alaska has a large number of remote settlements that may not have a robust healthcare system, and as a result may have instated stronger regulations &#8211; check local resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.alaska.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/covid19.alaska.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Arizona:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no statewide mandate to wear a mask or social distance, but it is strongly encouraged.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phoenix (Maricopa County), Mesa, Tucson, Flagstaff, Tempe, and a host of other cities have enforced masks\/face covering requirements &#8211; check local resources.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/azhealth.gov\/COVID19\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/azhealth.gov\/COVID19<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Arkansas:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mandate requiring masks\/face coverings to be worn in indoor public areas, and in outdoor areas where social distancing cannot be guaranteed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/govstatus.egov.com\/ar-covid-19\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/govstatus.egov.com\/ar-covid-19<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>California:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.ca.gov\/\">https:\/\/covid19.ca.gov\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Colorado:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.colorado.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/covid19.colorado.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Connecticut:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visitors to Connecticut from certain high risk states are required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival and fill out<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/ct.gov\/travelform\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The states are: Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Face coverings are required in all public areas where social distancing cannot be maintained.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/Coronavirus\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/Coronavirus<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Delaware:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus.delaware.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/coronavirus.delaware.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.):\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Masks are required in public areas and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who have participated in non-essential travel to\/from high risk states must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. The states are: Arkansas, Arizona, Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus.dc.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/coronavirus.dc.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Florida:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no statewide mask\/face covering requirement, but many individual cities and counties have one in place<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/342364-beyond-the-veil-what-face-mask-requirements-are-in-place-in-florida\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this site lists them<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visitors from the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) must isolate for 14 days upon arrival.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Florida is emerging as a hotspot, and many local authorities are rolling back plans to open businesses as a result &#8211; check with local contacts for the most up to date information.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/floridahealthcovid19.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/floridahealthcovid19.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Georgia:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Usage of masks\/face coverings is strongly encouraged, but not mandated. Certain cities, including Atlanta, have mandated the use of face coverings. Social distancing is also encouraged.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/georgia.gov\/covid-19-coronavirus-georgia\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/georgia.gov\/covid-19-coronavirus-georgia<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Hawaii:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All interstate travellers must quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Hawaii, although this may be avoided from September 1 through the presentation of a negative PCR test from the preceding 72 hours.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inter-island travellers must fill out<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/governor.hawaii.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Interisland-Decl-Form.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this form.<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiicovid19.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/hawaiicovid19.com\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Idaho:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ada County, which includes Boise, is encouraging a 14 day quarantine for those entering the area. Other counties are further along in their reopening plans and do not request a quarantine.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some counties are requiring the usage of masks\/face coverings and others only encourage them. Social distancing is still encouraged.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus.idaho.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/coronavirus.idaho.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Illinois:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travelers from the following states should quarantine upon arrival in Chicago: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah. Effective Friday, July 31, travelers from Missouri, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and North Dakota will also be directed to quarantine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coronavirus.illinois.gov\/s\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/coronavirus.illinois.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Indiana:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coronavirus.in.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.coronavirus.in.gov\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Iowa:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no statewide mask\/face covering mandate, but Johnson County (which includes Iowa City) has a mask mandate in place. The state government is encouraging the wearing of masks and social distancing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/idph.iowa.gov\/Emerging-Health-Issues\/Novel-Coronavirus\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/idph.iowa.gov\/Emerging-Health-Issues\/Novel-Coronavirus<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Kansas:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who have travelled to\/from Florida will be required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Kansas. The same applies to anyone arriving from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China, Iran, the European Schengen area, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and Brazil, and anyone returning from a cruise ship.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/covid.ks.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/covid.ks.gov\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Kentucky<\/b><b>:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Individuals who have travelled to\/from Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas, and Puerto Rico are advised to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Kentucky.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/govstatus.egov.com\/kycovid19\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/govstatus.egov.com\/kycovid19<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Louisiana:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged. Local areas have the ability to opt out of the mask mandate if they meet certain criteria.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ldh.la.gov\/Coronavirus\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/ldh.la.gov\/Coronavirus\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Maine:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only those residents of Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey can enter the state without restriction. All others must have a negative test result or must quarantine for 14 days &#8211; and must sign a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/decd\/sites\/maine.gov.decd\/files\/inline-files\/KeepMaineHealthy_GuestComplianceCertificate.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certificate of Compliance<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which is necessary to check-in to lodging in Maine.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maine residents who visit one of the five exempted states may return without restriction, but visits to any other states are still subject to testing and\/or quarantine upon return.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/covid19\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/covid19\/<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Maryland:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place for public areas, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitmaryland.org\/article\/travel-alerts\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.visitmaryland.org\/article\/travel-alerts<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Massachusetts:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All those entering the state must complete the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/forms\/massachusetts-travel-form\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Massachusetts Travel Form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and quarantine, unless coming from a low-risk state or able to present a negative test result from the preceding 72 hours. Low-risk states are Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Hawaii, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/info-details\/covid-19-updates-and-information\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/info-details\/covid-19-updates-and-information<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Michigan:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a statewide mask\/face covering mandate in place, and social distancing is encouraged.
